Internet Information Services (IIS) provides businesses with a hosting solution to serve Web applications. IIS is included with the Windows server operating system. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provides websites with encryption so users can send private and sensitive information from their browser to the website. SSL certificates are installed on the IIS server and allow users to browse the website with the “HTTPS” prefix.
