Allow them to set overnight to become saturated. Drive stakes into the ground at your corner posts, and stretch string between them along the lines where you’ll set your fence posts. Using the string as a guide, drive a stake, marking each post. Space them 6 to 8 feet apart. Calculate one-third of the total length of your posts, and add a few extra inches. Use a post hole digger to dig a hole to that depth at each of your stakes. Shovel a few inches of gravel into each hole, and tamp it down.
