Satellite installation can be a tedious process, but it need not be unnecessarily difficult. While many will choose to rely on a professional satellite technician, you can perform installation in your own home. With the help of a friend and only a couple simple resources — the standard FTA (free-to-air) satellite receiver and a hand-held level — your FTA satellite can be aimed and installed correctly, although precise up/down and left/right adjustments will have to be made as you go along. Look over the mounting area for your FTA satellite. Make sure there is no debris in the area and that there are no obstructions in the sky above that could interfere with the satellite signal, such as trees or tall buildings. Use a hand-held level when putting the FTA satellite on the mounting surface so as to ensure the dish is level and not askew. Point the FTA satellite to the southern sector of the sky.
