Changing air filters is usually a one to five minute job. If you can change a tail light bulb, you’re qualified for this job. To change an air filter on most older vehicles just open the hood and remove the wing nut on top of the air cleaner cover and replace the old filter with a new one. Just make sure the filter is seated properly so you can tighten the cover down flush with the air cleaner housing. On many late model vehicles the air cleaner housing will be away from the carburetor or fuel injector. The largest hose connected to the carburetor will lead to the air cleaner housing. You’ll probably find a rectangular shaped air cleaner cover probably made out of plastic or rubber. 4 or 6 bolts will usually be found that hold the cover in place. A screwdriver will likely be the tool you’ll need to take these bolts out. (Leave the bolts in the cover when you remove it, if you can). After you’ve loosened all of the bolts on the air cleaner cover, the cover may appear to be glued on. It’
