An ASPI driver is the original drive for CD ROMS, before the ATAPI format. ASPI is the communication between the PC Bus and the SCSI adapter. This interface is in use for SCSI CD ROM drives. The ATAPI is the format in the IDE CD ROMS. ASPI does not come with most Windows Operating Systems. The only operating systems that are bundled with ASPI drivers are Windows ME, 98 and 95. You will need to download and install an ASPI Driver for your CD ROM, if you have Windows NT or later. Go to an ASPI driver website. Snap Files, Adaptec and DownloadPlex (See Resource) offers the ASPI driver free. Download the file. Click on the “Download” or “Download Now” tab. Select a download folder and then press “Save.” Some browsers already have a download folder selected. If this is the case, click “Save File.” Open the location folder of the ASPI file.
