The amplifier takes the signal from the stereo unit and magnifies it to not only produce more volume, but sonic subtleties that make for a more complete experience. You can choose to have an amp and sub-woofer installed in your vehicle at an aftermarket retailer, or you can do it yourself and save the cost of labor. Disconnect the grounding cable from the vehicle’s negative battery lead.
