Disconnect the negative battery cable with a screwdriver. Jack up the car using an automotive jack. Open the cap on top of the radiator and unplug the drain plug underneath the radiator. Let the Nissan Maxima’s cooling system drain. Place a large container under the drain hole to catch the discharged coolant. Disconnect the components that lead to the water pump. Use an adjustable wrench and lay them out in the order removed to make reinstalling in the reverse order easier.
