How Do You Install A Water Pump In A Jeep?
Recognizing the symptoms of a faulty water pump on your Jeep is the first step to replacing it. An engine that regularly overheats is a good sign that your water pump is failing. Water leaking on the ground or from behind the water pump pulley itself means you need to install a new water pump immediately to avoid engine damage. Remove all traces of old water pump gasket material from the engine with a gasket scraper. Wipe the engine and new water pump mating surface with a clean shop towel. Apply a thin coat of RTV sealant to the engine side of the new gasket. Apply a thin layer of RTV sealant to the gasket mating surface of the new water pump, then carefully press together the gasket and pump. Attach the water pump and gasket to the engine and thread the bolts into the holes. Tighten using a ratchet wrench and proper size socket.
