Flat-panel televisions have enormous appeal, largely due to their thin profile. A huge selling point is your ability to hang them on the wall, removing the necessity for bulky floor stands and furniture. Like most flat panels, Sony sets operate on what is known as the VESA standard, meaning that the vast majority of flat panels have standardized bolt patterns on the rear of the sets. This allows a wide selection of vendors to provide the wall mounts. Still, proper tools must be used, and consideration to weight must be paid. Determine which wall the set is to be mounted on. Use a stud finder to locate two studs, ideally 16 inches on-center. Place the bracket that mounts to the wall at the desired height. Mark the locations of the lag bolt mounting holes with a pencil. Use a drill and 3/4-inch bit to drill the holes marked in Step 2. Return the wall bracket to position, aligning the drilled holes with the lag bolt mounting holes on the bracket.
