How Do You Install A USB Card Reader?
USB card readers are used to transfer pictures from a flash memory card to a computer. These cards are most often found in digital cameras and camcorders, but they are also used in many portable devices such as smartphones and PDAs. Any computer with a USB port can use one of these readers, and they only take a few minutes to install. A card reader will normally cost between $10 and $25 at most electronics stores. Connect the card reader to one of the computer’s USB ports. Most computers have these ports on both the front and back of the system. If it’s a laptop, they will normally be located on the side or the back. Give the computer a moment to recognize the card reader before moving on. Install any software that comes with the card reader. Many readers will automatically be recognized by the computer without the software being installed, so this step is sometimes optional.
