How Do You Install A Tongue & Groove Ceiling?
Renovating on a budget can be challenging. One way to add a new dimension and a sense of coziness to a room is to install a tongue-and-groove ceiling. This is a task you can do yourself. With a little preparation and some time, you can create a new look. Pick out the tongue-and-groove boards you will use for your ceiling. Use a measuring tape to determine the linear feet of your ceiling. Write the number down, then divide it by the amount of the wood’s width that will be revealed after installation–in other words, the wood’s surface and not the tongue. If the sum is a fraction, round up the total so that it is a whole number. To account for any mistakes you might make, as well as cuts, add 10 percent to the sum. Use a hammer or pry bar to remove any molding around the outside of the room. Try to do this carefully so that you can reinstall the molding after you install the tongue-and-groove ceiling.
