How Do You Install A Toilet Over Tile?
Your new bathroom floor tile is installed, grouted and sealed. You’re ready to put the room back together, but you’ve encountered a problem: How do you install a toilet over a tile floor? New tile raises the floor at least half an inch, and you need to modify your toilet installation to make up the distance. With a few items from your local hardware store and a couple of household tools, you’ll have that toilet flushing in no time. Measure the length of the flange bolts that are on either side of the floor drain and the depth of the toilet bolt holes. If you need more length, exchange the flange bolts with longer ones from the extension kit. Tip the toilet on its side and, with gloves on your hands, gently insert the wax ring into the bottom drain hole of the toilet. Take care not to move the wax out of form, and don’t get it on your skin or clothing.
