An above-ground pool is easier to install and much less expensive than an in-ground pool. If you choose to install it yourself be sure to follow the specific instructions that come with your pool. While there will be variations to installation for different pools, they should follow these basic steps. Check with the local building inspector to ensure you’re following the correct building codes for your area. Remove sod from the location you’ve chosen to put your above-ground pool and create a level surface, always matching the lowest level of the ground. The location should be relatively level to begin with and should get plenty of sun on summer days. You may want to add a strong and drainable material to the level surface to provide more support.
