How Do You Install A Shower Grab Bar?
Studies show most household accidents occur in the bathroom which is not hard to believe when you consider the potential dangers of a slick surface. Towel bars are not designed to support weight so they’re too weak to rely on. Installing a shower grab bar is a simple and inexpensive way to reduce the risk of injury when entering or exiting a shower. Locate the studs in the wall above the tile using an electronic stud finder. Drop a plumb line at the center of each stud and use masking tape to mark the width of the stud at the height where you will anchor each end of the grab bar. Place the grab bar so that each end lies on the tape and mark all six hole locations with a pencil. Use a carbide tipped drill bit to drill a half inch hole through the tile wall for a center toggle bolt. Then drill the six screw holes through the tile using a bit slightly larger than the screw diameter and remove the tape.
