How Do You Install A Shower Curtain Rod Into Drywall?
Shower rods come in two main types: spring-loaded, which you twist to lengthen and are held in place by tension; and permanently installed, which you must install with screws into the wall. The spring-loaded rods are easier to install but are not as sturdy as permanently installed rods if you plan to hang heavy, drying clothes or towels over the rod. Therefore, permanently installed rods are preferable; the installation is not very difficult. Hold the shower curtain up to see how high the rod must be so that the curtain will hang about 6 inches past the top edge of the tub. Make a pencil mark at the top of the curtain. Measure from the back wall to the mark and from the ceiling to the mark so you know where to make the mark on the other side of the tub. The rod should align horizontally with the front edge of the tub so that the curtain will hang straight when it hangs outside the tub.
