Vehicles with high current draw equipment additions, such as large sound systems or TVs, can very quickly drain a battery if the equipment is operated when the engine is not running. One way to lengthen the operating time is to add a second battery to the vehicle. The additional battery should be a deep cycle type, which will make it possible to drain and recharge it more times without shortening the life of the battery. Disconnect the negative terminal on the vehicle battery. Look for a location to mount the battery tray for the added battery. This should ideally be as close to the original battery as possible. The greater the distance to the second battery, the larger the battery cable to it should be. Insure that the location for the battery tray will allow the battery to fit, that nothing metal will touch the battery terminals and that the hood will close when the battery is in the tray.
