How Do You Install A Rubber Shower Floor Pan?
A rubber shower floor pan is simply a sheet of thick rubber that is placed below the mortar and tile of a shower floor to prevent water from leaking into the subfloor below the shower. Remove the shower drain and top flange from the lower flange. Pre-slope the bottom of the shower area using a mixture of four parts cement to one part sand. Don’t slope the shower more than 1/4″ a foot. Measure the width and depth of the shower floor and the height and width of the shower curb. The shower width should be measured from side wall to side wall and the depth to be measured from the shower curb to the back wall. Cut the rubber membrane eight inches longer than the width and four inches plus the height and width of the curb longer than the depth. Place the pan liner on the floor of the shower with the liner running up all three walls by four inches. The liner should run up the shower curb and completely cover the top of it.
