How Do You Install A Replacement Door?
Old doors in your home create more problems than just a poor look. They can cause drafts in the colder months, costing you money in lost heat, and they can stick in the summer due to heat swelling, causing gouging and annoyance. Replacing these old doors with a modern replacement door is quick and easy, and the money you spend will come back to you in energy savings. Take the old door off the hinges by pulling the hinge pins out with the door closed. After you remove the old pins, carefully release the handle and remove the door from its position in the door frame. Remove the trim around the doorway by cutting away any caulking and spray insulation that might be in place to prevent drafts on both the inside and outside of the doorway. Gently pull the trim from its position, being careful not to damage the wood or drywall behind it. Use a chisel or flat screwdriver to pry away the trim if needed by tapping it with a hammer to create a space. Use a pry bar to finish removal of the trim.
