Use a voltage detector to verify that power no longer runs to the light. Pull the wires to the light down from the ceiling, and remove the wire nuts that protect the connections. Untwist the wires from each other and disconnect the ground wire. Loosen the screws that secure the mounting strap to the ceiling and take the light down.
