Late spring is an ideal time. Decide on the exact area you would like to fence in. Visualize how the fencing will look. Plant a stake in the ground at the spot where each of the terminal posts will go (the posts that begin and end the fence). Push them in far enough so that they stand at a 90-degree angle to the ground. Pick one of your stakes and tie one end of the kite string to it. Then start walking along the line where you want to lay your fence. Pull the string tight behind you, making sure it is perpendicular to your house.
