No matter how many phone jacks you have in your house, it seems there’s never a phone in the room where you are. If you have some carpentry skills, you can install additional phone jacks in your home and save the expense of having the phone company install them. Find the phone’s outside box. Disconnect your phone service temporarily. There’s a small amount of electrical current that runs through this box. It’s not worth taking an accidental jolt of electricity. Locate you telephone line’s junction box. Measure the distance from the junction box to where you want to install a new box for a phone jack. Purchase enough wiring for the job. Also purchase the phone jack box and any other tools that you don’t have to complete the task. Mark the spot where you intend to install the phone jack box.
