Installing a Pergo floor is an economical home improvement that is relatively easy. There are hundreds of different styles and brands to choose from and since there is no glue, there is little mess. Measure the room twice. Once you have the measurements, go to your local home improvement store and pick out the “pergo” of your choice. (Pergo is the brand name for the non-wood glueless wood floors) You will also need to purchase the underlayment that goes under the flooring. This stuff is easy to cut and you can tape it into place so it is very easy to work with. The floor is designed to be free floating. It doesn’t sit snug against the walls but rather a 1/4″ gap is left all around the exterior of your floor. Keep this in mind as you begin your install. Simply roll out your underlayment and cut it to size. Start in one corner while leaving your 1/4″ gap and work length-wise down the room making your first run.
