How Do You Install A New Washing Machine Drain?
An inexperienced homeowner may panic when basic household appliance repairs need attention. Some repairs are best left to an expert, while others require only a minimum of background knowledge, few tools and only a little common sense. Installing a new washing machine drain is one job that needs little skill or previous knowledge. Drains are made of plastic and wear out after a couple of years of use. Detach the old drain hose from the washing machine. Access the back of the washing machine and detach the hose clamps that secure the drain hose to the pump nozzle (the nozzle where drained water from the washing machine pumps out). Depending on the washing machine model, there may be one or two clamps. Some clamps detach by unscrewing them from the back of the washing machine with a flat head screwdriver; others detach by squeezing the clamps with a pair of channel locks.
