A do-it-yourself repair like this does carry some risk of permanent damage, so take your time when you tackle it. Remove the case cover or any accessories connected to your PSP. Remove the UMD, memory card and battery as well. This includes the power cord for your console, as leaving the PSP attached to a power source during repair could cause electric shock.
