0

One of the most inexpensive ways to upgrade your home heating system is to install a new programmable thermostat. A lot of people still have the classic round manual thermostats. Others have a digital thermostat but it isn’t programmable. With a programmable thermostat, you have the ability to allow the thermostat to automatically raise and lower the set temperature depending on how you program it. It can keep the house cool all day, and then 30 minutes before you get home it can turn the heat up so you arrive to a comfortable home. With a few common tools, it is fairly easy to install a new furnace thermostat. Turn off the power to the HVAC system. Locate the breaker in the circuit breaker panel that powers the HVAC system and turn it to the “off” position. Remove the old thermostat cover by gently pulling it off the wall plate. Locate the thermostat wiring and disconnect it. Label the wires as you disconnect them so they can be reconnected to the correct terminals on the new thermost
