When installing a NIC on your computer the first thing to do is make sure you have purchased the Correct NIC (Network Interface Card). This means that the NIC is compatible with your mother board and also that you have an available slot on the motherboard in which to insert your NIC. To begin make sure to read the documentation accompanying your Network Interface Card. Pay close attention to any warnings and tips. Once you have thoroughly familiarized yourself with the documentation go ahead and power off your PC and unplug it from its power source. Next remove the case cover like I have stated many times this process is different with almost every model. So take the time to figure out just how your case is supposed to open. Now that we are inside the case attach your anti-static bracelet if you have one and if not make sure you constantly touch the outside metal edges of your case to expel and static electricity that may have built up in your fingers.
