How Do You Install A Mustang Oil Pan?
The sole responsibility of the Mustang’s oil pan is to store the oil used by the engine. Between the oil pan and the engine is a cork gasket. If this gasket fails, oil will steadily leak from the engine when the engine is running. Gasket failure is typically due to a damaged oil pan. Repeatedly replenishing the engine with new oil is one way to avoid engine failure, but doing so can quickly become expensive. Although more laborious, the more practical choice is to replace the damaged oil pan or the damaged gasket. Step 1 Raise the hood and withdraw the oil level dipstick from the dipstick tube. Step 2 Jack up the front of the Mustang and support its weight on axle stands. Step 3 Remove the oil drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan with a wrench and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container. Step 4 Disconnect the battery cable from the starter motor then remove the starter to access the rear oil pan bolts. The starter is located on the passenger’s side of the engine. A single b
