The PS2 is a popular game console, but many owners wish it could do more things than what Sony had built into the operating system. Modifying or “moding” a PS2 requires wiring a special chip to a particular location on the motherboard of the game console. This mod chip changes the way the PS2 works and lets program designed by other PS2 owners to be used on it. The modification is not casual work, but it can be done by anyone who will take the time and has the patience. Put a clean cloth down on a work surface. Remove the power plug and audio and video cables from the PS2 and place the PS2 face down on the clean cloth. Remove the plugs covering the screws using the jeweler’s flat-head screwdriver. Remove the screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Put the screws aside. Flip the PS2 face up and put it down on the clean cloth.
