How Do You Install A Mailbox On A Post?
Unless yours is a specialty or custom mailbox, installing it on an existing post is a fairly straightforward task. If you have a basic workshop and have done other small projects, there’s a good chance that most or all of what you need to do this job is already at hand without running out to the home building supply or hardware store. Measure the inside dimensions of the recessed area at the bottom of the mailbox. This area is intended to receive a board that you’ll cut to fit inside it. Measure, mark and cut a piece of wood according to the dimensions you obtained from Step 1. Check to make certain this wood plate fits properly into the recessed area beneath the mailbox. Take the newly cut piece of wood to the mailbox post and place it flat on top, centering it front to back and side to side. Drive four 2-inch screws, evenly spaced, down through the piece of wood you cut into the top of the post. Bring the screw heads down to just flush with the wood surface. (Burying the head too far
