How Do You Install A Light Switch Wire?
Wiring a light switch is easy, but it can be challenging to run the wires to the switch box, especially if you don’t want to damage the wall. If you have room to work in the attic, it’s easy to run the wire from there. It is only slightly more difficult to run wires from the basement or crawl space. You’ll need to make holes in the top or bottom plate of the wall and in some cases you may need fish tape to pull the wires. Mark the outline of a remodeling switch box on the wall where you intend to install the switch. Outline the back of the box, making sure that the lip of the box will fit over the drywall when the hole is cut. Cut it out with a drywall saw. Work in the attic if there is room to do so. Drill a hole in the top plate of the wall directly over the switch and drill another hole over the light, if it is a wall light.
