How Do You Install A Kitchen Sink Drain?
Many do-it-yourself (DIY) projects can be confusing for less-than-handy homeowners. However, there are some that, when given the proper steps, can save you the time and money of dealing with a professional. Follow these steps to make the sometimes-tricky process of installing a kitchen sink drain less involved and easier to understand. Start by removing the old drain parts. You can do this by starting with the p-trap using the channel lock pliers. Place a small bucket under the p-trap to catch any water that may spill when you remove the p-trap from the pipe. If you have a dishwasher, be sure to disconnect the hose attached to the drain. Simply loosen the nut on the clamp holding the hose in place. Continue unscrewing the remaining nuts on the drain pipes using the channel lock pliers. Again, using the channel locks, remove the old basket from the sink by loosening the nut on the bottom of the sink. Pull the old basket strainer through the hole and remove any old putty from the sink. B
