How Do You Install A Kitchen Sink Basket?
A kitchen sink basket, also referred to as a strainer basket, is designed to prevent particles from entering the plumbing system which are large enough to clog the drain pipes. The basket rests at the bottom of the sink and exits from the underside of the sink where it connects to the drain pipes. Over time, a sink basket can develop leaks, requiring repair or replacement of the basket. Step 1 Loosen the slip nut which attaches the drain pipe to the bottom of the basket underneath the sink. Slip nuts are large circular pieces with several ridges around the edges. The slip nuts can often be loosened by hand, but stubborn slip nuts require the use of water-pump pliers. Once loosened, slide the slip nut away from the end of the pipe. Step 2 Loosen the slip nut which attaches the drain pipe to the pipe from the wall. Slide the slip nut away from the end of the pipe.
