A window-mounted AC unit can be installed in many types of windows, including double-hung or vertical windows and sliding or horizontal windows. Installing or mounting an AC unit in a horizontal window will require making modifications to make it fit into the window opening. Installing a horizontal AC unit can be done by following a few steps to mount and secure it in the window. Remove one side of the horizontal window to use to mount the AC unit. The sliding part of the window is easier to remove because there will be screws that attach it to the track. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws, and pull the piece out of the frame.
