How Do You Install A Heated Tile Floor?
Ceramic tile floors look beautiful in our bathrooms and kitchens. The only problem is stepping on them in cold winter months with no socks on and finding out how cold they can get. One solution is to install a heated tile floor. Heating the tiles from beneath can warm a floor nicely. If you don’t want to cover those lovely tiles with throw rugs, install a heated tile floor instead. Measure the square footage of the floor where you are installing the ceramic tile. Purchase the desired tile and a floor heating system, comprised of a thermostat and wired mat, at any home improvement center. Lay out the electric mat on the floor, following manufacturer instructions. Cover the mat with a layer of thinset cement using a trowel to spread the cement, avoiding any damage of the wiring inside the electric mat. Install tiles as you would on any normal floor. Be careful not to push down too hard so as not to break or crush the wiring inside the electric mat. Apply grout in between the tiles follow
