In a home without a basement, the shutoff will be in the wall behind an access panel. Remove the cap on the gas line with an adjustable wrench. If an old gas stove was removed then there may not be a cap. Wrap the fitting on the stove and the gas pipe coming up through the floor with Teflon tape.
