Many people prefer cooking on gas stoves because it is easier to control the temperature, and most professional chefs use gas stoves. Connecting a gas stove requires a flex hose with standard fittings, which can be purchased at any home improvement store. The job can be completed in just a few minutes. Shut off the gas supply to the gas pipe to which the stove is being connected. In a home with a basement, there should be a shutoff for the gas in the basement ceiling where the gas pipe goes up through the kitchen floor. In a home without a basement, the shutoff will be in the wall behind an access panel. Remove the cap on the gas line with an adjustable wrench. If an old gas stove was removed then there may not be a cap. Wrap the fitting on the stove and the gas pipe coming up through the floor with Teflon tape.
