How Do You Install A Gas Gauge Sending Unit?
If you are running out of gas because your gauge doesn’t seem to give you the correct information, you may need to replace or install a new gas gauge sending unit. In most cars, it is a simple process. The gas gauge sending unit is also called the sender unit or fuel sender unit. Check your manual for your car’s fuel tank sending unit location before installing your new unit. Disconnect the negative battery cable. This will ensure that no electricity is flowing that can hurt you. This is especially important as you are dealing with gas, which is flammable. Find the access cover for your gas gauge sending unit. It is under your back seat, or in your trunk, underneath your carpet. Lift the carpet and unscrew the cover that holds the cover in place. This will give you access to the entire gas gauge sending unit. You should see the unit right on top. It will have wiring that is plugged into the top. Unplug the wiring harness and move it to the side. You may need to remove screws and bolts
