How Do You Install A Fluorescent Light Fixture?
I recently installed a fluorescent fixture in my garage. After years of trying to get by with the single light bulb in the ceiling, I realized this was something I could do. Now I have nice, even lighting in my garage, good enough that I can use it as a workshop. With an additional hanging fixture over my workbench, I’ve got plenty of nice cool light. I’m going to shave a little off the electric bill this way as well. Turn off the power. Do this at the breaker box. Double-check to see that the power is off by trying your old light again. If you’re like me and have a meter, check the outlet with the meter. You can’t go wrong by double and triple-checking yourself at this point. I also *locked* the breaker box (I keep it locked, anyway, to prevent pranks) after I turned off the breaker to the garage power. Remove the old fixture. In my case, it was easy. Two screws held the light fixture to the ceiling. Then I removed the wires. Did I mention to turn off the power? And double check it? Y
