How Do You Install A Fiberglass Shower Pan?
The shower pan is the base of the shower. The pan is laid on top of the prepared concrete. Shower pans come in a variety of different materials including: vinyl, acrylic and fiberglass. Installing a fiberglass shower pan is a fairly simple procedure. The shower pan comes in one piece which eliminates seams, which also eliminates leaks. Lean the fiberglass shower pan up against a wall. Be careful not to drop it. Apply 100 percent silicone caulking material to the underside of the fiberglass shower pan. The pan has raised webbing; put the caulking on the top of the webbing. Place a ring of silicone caulking around the drain opening on the sub floor. Lay the fiberglass shower pan in place and press down. Wipe up any caulking material that oozes out from under the center hole. Connect the drain pipe to the drain assembly. Let the shower pan cure for 48 hours.
