How Do You Install A Farad Capacitor?
One-farad capacitors have many applications, the most common being in car audio systems. Capacitors serve as a charge tank for electrical systems. For example, when your stereo hits a hard bass note, that power is sucked from your amplifier and battery. This can sometimes take power away from the rest of your vehicle and cause your lights to dim. If you have a capacitor connected between your battery and amplifier, the capacitor will supply the extra power for the deep bass hit. Disconnect your power source. If the capacitor is to be put in your vehicle, disconnect everything on the negative (-) terminal of your battery using an adjustable wrench. Cut two 5-foot pieces of wire that are the same gauge as the power wire running to your amplifier. Strip 1/2 inch of wire off of each end. Crimp a ring terminal to both ends on each wire.
