How Do You Install A Fan Light Switch?
Installing a fan light switch allows you to control the fan and the light separately at the wall, rather than pulling on chains. Installing a separate switch for the light can help when walking into a dark room. Being able to turn on the light at the wall rather than walking across a dark room to pull a chain makes navigating through the room much less dangerous. Your ceiling fan is prewired for you to be able to separate the fan and the light and you won’t have to take down the fan. Turn off the electricity to the fan circuit to by turning off the breaker in the main electrical panel. Remove the switch cover plate from the wall switch. The cover plate attaches to the wall with two screws. Remove the plate to access the switch wiring. Disconnect the switch from the electrical box. The switch connects to the electrical box in the wall by two screws located at the top and the bottom of the switch; remove these screws to pull the switch from the wall.
