A new DVD-RW will allow you to watch DVDs on your computer or allow you to save lots of information to DVD-RW disks many times. Once you have installed the DVD-RW drive you will have completed your first simple computer upgrade and be ready for more complicated upgrades. Shut down your computer. To be safe, unplug the power supply. Open up the side of your computer by unscrewing two or more Phillips screws on the back of your computer that holds the side door in place. Make a space. Remove your old optical drive or break away the plastic piece and or the metal rectangle that covers unused drive bays. Insert the drive.
