Installing a kitchen light fixture does not have to be a hair-raising experience. It is as simple as knowing where to shut off the power to the kitchen and how to connect color-coded wires. You do not need special tools to hang a light; all you have to do is screw in a few screws. Turn the light switch to off in the kitchen. This will keep power from flowing to the wiring. If you are not secure with just the switch being turned off, locate the circuit panel box. This is usually in the garage or a utility room. Flip the switch controlling power to the kitchen to off.
