This is how to install a dimmer light switch. Light switches get dirty and ugly overtime because of how much we touch them. Replacing light switches is a good start to updating your home. And as long as you’re at it might as well make it a dimmer switch. Dimmer switches can go anywhere a regular light switch goes. First you need to remove the old switch. But before you touch anything, shut the power off to the switch at the breaker box. It’s nice to check with a volt meter to make sure the power is off. Start by removing the switch cover plate. Now remove the top and bottom screws holding the switch to the electrical box. The switch should now be free from the box but wires will still be attached. Pull the switch out towards you so it is easier to disconnect the wires and disconnect the old switch. Most new dimmers come with wire leads so you’ll need three wire nuts.
