How Do You Install A Cruise Control Switch In A Ford?
Ford cruise control switches are basically “plug and play.” The cruise control switch is located on the steering column of Ford vehicles and uses a retaining clip to hold the switch in place. The switch is also a combination switch and controls the headlights and turn signals. When this switch fails, you must replace it. Once you’ve gotten the old switch off, install the new switch. Orient the cruise control switch so that the electric terminals are facing the steering column. The switch should be oriented so that it would be in the “off” position for the headlight portion of the switch. Align the cruise control switch terminals with the terminals inside the steering column. Push the switch into the steering column until you hear it lock into the steering column. There will be an audible “click”. This is the sound of the retaining pin or clip (depending on the year of your Ford). The switch is now installed on your steering column.
