How Do You Install A Circuit Breaker Into A Service Panel?
Installing a new circuit breaker into a service panel is a straightforward task, but it involves a degree of risk. That’s because even though you are about to turn power to the breakers off, there will still be power coming into the service panel from the mains supply outside. These are the two large incoming wires connected above the main breaker. Seek professional help if you have any doubts about performing this task. Turn your flashlight on then turn the power OFF at the main circuit breaker at the top of the panel. Use a slotted screwdriver to remove the screws around the outside of the circuit breaker cover. Hold the cover as you remove the screws, then remove the cover. Test the incoming wires below the main breaker with a volt meter; they should read zero voltage, indicating that the wires below the main breaker are dead.
