How Do You Install A Car Starter In A 1999 Maxima?
The 1999 Nissan Maxima starter mounts on the top of the transmission and is accessible from the top of the engine compartment. The starter may grind, drag or stop working overtime, requiring removal of the unit from the car. Most auto parts stores offer free bench testing if you bring the starter to them. This will prevent you from replacing a good starter when your problem lies elsewhere. If you do need a new starter, you can purchase one at most auto parts stores or through a Nissan dealership. Loosen the negative battery cable retaining bolt with a wrench and remove the negative cable from the battery. Set the cable off to one side and isolate it from the battery terminal while you are working. Locate and remove the air cleaner duct that runs across the top of the engine.
