The single DIN stereo is the most common stereo and is the easiest to install. You can have a professional technician install an aftermarket stereo into your 1999 Ford Escort, or you can do it yourself and save the cost of labor. Remove the negative battery cable from the negative terminal on the Ford battery with a 10 millimeter wrench. Place the negative battery cable away from the Ford battery until installation is complete. Insert the Ford release keys into the openings on either side of the face of the stereo.
