How Do You Install A Bathtub Stem?
If your bathtub stem is leaking, it more than likely has a worn out washer or threads and needs to be replaced. It is not as hard as it sounds. You do not need special tools or skills to replace the stem. Use your flat tip screwdriver to remove the plastic cover plate in the center of the faucet handle. The cover plate will have a hot and cold symbol on it. Slide the flat tip screw driver under the edge of the plate and pry up. The plate will come off. Use your flat tip screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the faucet handle. When the screw is removed, pull out on the handle and the handle will slide off. Behind the handle is a metal escutcheon ring. Turn the ring counterclockwise by hand and remove it. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the metal cover plate. Take the cover plate off. Turn off the water. You may have to turn it off at the main. The water main is often located at the street in your yard. It will be under a metal cover. Use your p
