Adding an exhaust fan to a bathroom can greatly reduce fogging and moisture collection. This can also extend the life of the paint and drywall in the bathroom. Installing an exhaust fan will take a little time and effort, but it is well worth it. Drill a guide hole in the ceiling of the bathroom located between the shower and the toilet. Measure the fan and locate the guide hole in the attic and remove any insulation from around the area. The fan housing should be located between joists. Measure where the fan should be placed in relation to the guide hole. Draw the outline of the vent fan on the bathroom ceiling using the guide hole and the measurements from the attic. Cut out the drywall to make the hole for the fan unit. Position the vent fan and screw it into the joists.
