New bathroom faucet assemblies now come with a pop-drain to install with the faucet. Installing a bathroom sink pop up assembly is usually not something you consider when just replacing a faucet. Although it may seem like extra unnecessary work, installing a new pop-up is not difficult. The installation process is very similar among all manufacturers, the only real differences are the use of clips or retaining nuts to connect the linkages. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions for specifics on your model. Place a bucket under the sink drain, below the sink trap. Use a small pipe wrench or channel lock pliers to loosen the nut that secures the straight pipe from the drain to the sink trap. The straight piece is the sink tailpipe. The sink trap is the curved pipe connecting the sink drain pipe to the main wall drain. Loosen the nut completely to disconnect the sink trap from the tailpipe.
